The BetteAir from Bette is reportedly the world’s first glazed titanium-steel shower tile and completes the evolution of the shower tray into part of the bathroom floor.

BetteAir integrates so perfectly that it is hardly noticeable and, at only 10mm high, it can be glued directly to the screed like a conventional tile. The BetteAir can be installed with a minimum installation height of only 97 millimetres. Durable and easy to clean, it has all the advantages of a tile without any of the disadvantages.

The new BetteAir shower tile is available in eight sizes from 900 x 900 to 1400 x 1000 mm and in a choice of 31 colours.

BetteAir is supplied as standard with basic sound insulation for quiet showering and can also be equipped with an anti-slip surface: BetteAnti-Slip Pro, or the new BetteAnti-Slip Sense for gloss white, which offers the highest level of slip protection.

BetteAir Tile

The Bette-Anti Slip Sense surface is the only glossy, smooth and easy to clean anti-slip surface to provide the highest level of slip protection on shower trays.

It is a new type of surface treatment for maximum slip resistance (in accordance with evaluation group C of DIN 51097). Almost invisible, the anti-slip effect occurs when the pressure of the body weight and water come together.

New BetteAnti-Slip Sense can be used to provide the highest level of slip protection on Bette’s gloss white glazed titanium-steel shower trays and baths. For shower trays in matt colours, Bette offers its almost invisible BetteAnti-Slip Pro.

All Bette shower trays, baths and washbasins come with a 30 year warranty. Made from natural products, they are 100% recyclable.

The base is sustainable, extremely long-lasting and 100 per cent recyclable steel enamel. The exquisite glass surface is applied to the steel using a special process and this is what gives it such a luxurious finish.

According to Kaldewei it is the only steel enamel manufacturer that produces the enamel, i.e. the basic substance for the glass coating, in-house and using a secret formulation. Kaldewei tells us the quality and durability of these surfaces are legendary.

There are over 50 different dimensions from 70 to 180 centimetres, diverse surface variations and a wide range of colours, all of which make the Superplan Zero even more attractive.  Whether in large or small bathrooms, building owners, planners and installers have full flexibility.   The shower surface is available with the almost invisible, anti-slip surface finish Secure Plus, upon request.

The ClassicLine series from Unidrain has been expanded and now includes six different options in brushed stainless steel; the Column, Stripe, Anniversario, Classic, Square and Inca, each with their own unique grating design.

ClassicLine is the original linear floor drain and it was this invention that helped create Unidrain. This initial drain was a revelation – the patented wall and floor flanges, which enable the drain to be positioned against the wall yet keeping the surfaces 100% waterproof was a game-changer in the drainage world. The ClassicLine was introduced in 2003 and has since won numerous design awards. The original design series consists of a frame and a grating, with the frame holding the grating in place.

Minimalism is still king in the bathroom. Monochromatic colour schemes, thin edges and clean lines – both straight and elegantly curved – continue to dominate the shower space. These design features are proving even more popular in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, with consumers looking for bathroom products that are hygienic and easy to keep clean.

Seamless spaces

Choosing a minimalist shower doesn’t mean forgoing colour and innovative design. Bette’s revolutionary BetteAir is the world’s first shower tile made of glazed titanium steel, available in more than 30 colours and eight sizes.

Its floor-level installation means it blends seamlessly into the bathroom floor, and can be glued directly to the screed like a standard tile. Bette has ensured that the shower tile will sit flush by reducing its thickness to 10mm—the typical thickness of a large-format tile.

Designer Dominik Tesseraux says: “BetteAir has all the advantages of a tile without its disadvantages. With the shower tile, the floor of the shower is immaculately beautiful, free of joints and thus absolutely hygienic and easy to clean.”

Discreet solutions

Even with more standard shower surface design, manufacturers are ensuring products remain sleek without sacrificing style. Kaldewei’s KA 90 and KA 120 waste systems for enamelled shower surfaces – including its floor-level Cayonoplan shower surface – include the option for an enamelled waste cover in the same colour as the shower surface, making it even more discreet.

The KA 90 now features a flatter design, allowing it to be integrated almost flush, while the KA 120 waste system is available in round and square options. Both include a hair catcher as standard and a new plug-in connection for the waste cover, allowing the waste to be cleaned easily and safely.

Straight & narrow

The new Kinedo Brooklyn shower cubicle range by Saniflo highlights the popularity of showers with clean, straight lines. Bringing industrial style to the forefront, it is available in black with black silk screen printed lines, as well as a modern take on the traditional grey and chrome with transparent glass.

The Brooklyn cubicle comes with a pivot or sliding door, a white Biocryl shower tray with chrome waste, and metal handles. It has been designed for quick and easy assembly without silicone and predominantly without screws.

Spacious curves

The new 700m curved showering panel in Kudos’s Ultimate range provides additional showering space in an elegant solution. Designed to sit neatly on a 1200mm bow-fronted shower tray, this new walk-in enclosure with 8mm curved glass has been created specifically for British bathrooms and is available in three sizes.

Also available as flat glass shower panels, Kudos’s Ultimate range comes in chrome, brushed or bright nickel, brushed or bright gold, and black. They can be installed on both shower trays and tiled wet-floors, making them a perfect option for the minimalist bathroom.

Style & substance

Inclusive design is not being left behind when it comes to the minimalist shower trend. HEWI is a key player when it comes to accessible, functional shower products that are hygienic and compliant with current British or International standards. Its range of products – including the HEWI S900 range and Doc M shower pack – allows customers to create fully compliant showering spaces without compromising on design.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also been prompting clients to consider the hygiene standards of their current bathroom spaces. HEWI’s active plus range has been developed with an antimicrobial effect using microsilver, which is effective against bacteria and fungi by inhibiting the growth of bacteria through the discharge of silver ions. This allows customers to future-proof their bathroom spaces as we emerge from the pandemic.

The Kartell by Laufen collection has been expanded with original products, in new colours and finishes. A timeless concept with a wide range of pieces that can be combined to create new compositions every time.

Kartell Collection Laufen

The bathroom, like all spaces in the home, is constantly evolving, changing to adapt to the latest lifestyle trends. From research and study on today’s ways of living, the Kartell by Laufen collection has boosted the impact of the colours and finishes of the ceramic fixtures and accessories, inserting new fresh, neutral tones that can be freely combined to generate different settings.

Kartell by Laufen is an extremely complete, variegated collection for the bathroom: it is composed not only of sanitaryware, washstands, brassware, shower trays and bathtubs – the indispensable constants – but also furnishings and décor complements, which can continuously change. Such a wide range of different items gives rise to a collection that combines the Italian design tradition and high quality of materials typical of Kartell.

The Kartell by Laufen collection has been enhanced with new chromatic versions for the sanitaryware and the accessories, while moving forward with the research on taps and mixers. The matte and soft touch finishes effectively mingle with the rest of the collection, bringing a contemporary image that easily fits in any type of décor solution. The white and gray tones previously favored are joined by black and anthracite gray for the washstands in different forms and sizes, produced in the finest ceramic which makes it possible to achieve squared lines and very slim borders, reducing environmental impact to a minimum.

Kartell Collection Laufen

Ochre, mustard yellow and blue-gray are the new hues for 2021, selected to facilitate different compositions of cabinets and drawer units that combine compact, linear design with ample size to offer maximum functional quality in any type of bathroom.

The transparent design accessories establish a perfect dialogue with the ceramic fixtures and the cabinets, adding a touch of lightness in the bathroom thanks to the transparency of the various modular elements. From the Sound-Rack storage systems, which offer great compositional freedom and an ample selection of colours and finishes, to the extensive selection of accessories and complements: Kartell by Laufen is an eclectic, contemporary collection that permits personalisation of the bathroom to suit the mood of the moment.

The toilet (rimless) and the bidet stand out for their linear form, like an overturned truncated cone, with the possibility of attachment to the wall or the floor.

The brassware also plays an important role in the collection: the various possibilities of installation and the great quality of the finishes allow for countless combinations with the ceramic fixtures. The minimal form of the mixers and cylindrical columns are softened by the elegant lines of the curved spigot, the perfect completion of a large washbasin or tub.

The sky’s the limit!

There are no limitations to the compositional freedom offered by the Kartell by Laufen collection: the bathroom becomes a fluid space, capable of adapting to the new needs of living that call for rapid, flexible solutions, in which functional quality rhymes with design and innovation. Sanitaryware, cabinets, complements and accessories, featuring pure geometric forms, to create combinations that are perfect for any space, of any size.

Bette’s revolutionary BetteAir is the world’s first shower tile made of glazed titanium steel and integrates so perfectly into the floor that it is hardly noticeable. The floor-level installation is also a revolution, as it can be glued directly to the screed like a conventional tile.

Bette has ensured that the shower tile will sit flush by reducing its thickness to 10mm – the typical thickness of a large-format tile. This pure design, together with its revolutionary installation, has led German bathroom manufacturer, Bette, to call the BetteAir a shower tile.

Designer Dominik Tesseraux sums up the revolutionary development: “BetteAir has all the advantages of a tile without its disadvantages. With the shower tile, the floor of the shower is immaculately beautiful, free of joints and thus absolutely hygienic and easy to clean.”

Made of durable and easy to clean, glazed titanium steel, the BetteAir shower tile is available in eight sizes from 900 x 900 to 1400 x 1000 mm and in a choice of 31 colours. More news from Bette

German manufacturer, Bette, is launching a new type of anti-slip for glazed titanium-steel shower trays and baths that keeps the glossy looks and smooth, easy-to-clean surface, while also providing the highest level of slip protection. BetteAnti-Slip Sense is a type of anti-slip that you can neither see nor feel. Almost magical: the protective effect of BetteAnti-Slip Sense only occurs when the body and wetness meet.

Until now, anyone who wanted to protect themselves from slipping in the shower or bath had a problem: slip resistance could only be achieved through a surface that looked like it has slip resistance, or with unsightly and unhygienic additions, such as rubberised mats.

BetteAnti-Slip Sense is a new type of surface treatment for maximum slip resistance (in accordance with evaluation group C of DIN 51097) with very special properties. The anti-slip effect on glazed titanium steel only occurs when the pressure of the bodyweight and water come together, so providing the protection exactly when it is needed: when standing in a wet bath or shower. When the surface is dry and the feet are dry, no additional slip resistance is required as the adhesion is high enough.

Invisible, durable and easy to clean

To achieve the slip-resistant effect, Bette treats the surface with a suspension containing the finest micrometre-sized ceramic particles, which form a permanent bond with the BetteGlaze. They are almost invisible to the eye, and the surface does not become rough as a result. The shower trays and baths retain their flawless, brilliant look and pleasant feel in all glossy colours. In addition, they can be cleaned in the usual way, because BetteAnti-Slip Sense is extremely durable, scratch-resistant and is not affected by cleaning agents usually used to clean shower trays and baths.

The new BetteAnti-Slip Sense can be used to provide the highest level of slip protection on Bette’s glossy colours. For shower trays and baths in matt colours, Bette offers the proven, almost invisible BetteAnti-Slip Pro.

Certified slip resistance

With its particularly high slip resistance, BetteAnti-Slip Sense is an ideal solution for those who are less mobile and for families with small children – in fact for everyone who wants to enjoy a safe and carefree shower or bath. The slip resistance has been certified by the German institute LGA Bautechnik GmbH in Nuremberg and tested in trials. In these tests, a test person stands on a shower surface wetted with soapy water, which becomes increasingly inclined. With BetteAnti-Slip Sense, the person only starts to slip at an angle of inclination of at least 24 degrees, which corresponds to the highest bathroom slip resistance rating group C. (Six degrees less, i.e. 18 degrees, means only rating class B and 12 degrees rating class A).

The highest level of slip resistance means that there is no requirement for anti-slip mats or pads that can provide the ideal breeding ground for dirt and germs and are difficult to clean. The hygienic and easy to clean the surface of Bette’s glazed titanium-steel with BetteAnti-slip Sense, means that dirt and germs find it hard to adhere to.

About Bette

Bette is a specialist in bathroom products that are made of a special metal in a unique manufacturing process: titanium steel sheets are shaped under high pressure and then finished with a thin coating that is related to glass – hence the name “glazed titanium steel”. This composite material is perfect for the bathroom (it is skin-friendly, hygienic, durable and robust), and Bette uses it to make its baths, shower areas, shower trays and washbasins.

Bette is expanding its popular BetteUltra shower tray range with four new formats, with which XL and XXL shower areas can be created.

The trend towards large floor-like or super-flat shower trays continues because they are comfortable to use, give a generous feeling of space and are very easy to care for.

The BetteUltra glazed titanium-steel shower trays feature flush-mounted waste covers and a durable and easy to clean surface. They are available in numerous colours, come with a 30 year warranty and are 100% recyclable.

Now four new formats in the dimensions 1300 x 700, 1300 x 750, 1900 x 900 and 2000 x 900 mm extend the bathroom options with BetteUltra.  The 2000 mm version is one of the largest shower trays in glazed titanium steel on the market and is extremely stable thanks to the strong material. With the new sizes, walk-in shower areas can be created which continue the usual high aesthetic standard of BetteUltra in XL and XXL format. In addition to classic white, they are available in numerous colours, including exclusive matt colours and special effect colours.

Pleasure for eye and ear

The shower trays, which are only 35 mm in depth, can either be installed flush-to-floor or above the floor, so BetteUltra can be used to help the bathroom appear more spacious and to reduce the risk of tripping.

BetteUltra shower trays come pre-fitted with sound-insulating mats, to ensure more acoustic comfort when showering, and no additional work for installers. If the BetteUltra shower trays are also ordered with the pre-fitted Bette Minimum-support, additional time can be saved on installation and increased sound insulation will be achieved to DIN 4109 and VDI 4100, sound insulation level 3 with only 17 dB(A).

For further information see my-bette.com/en or telephone 0844 800 0547.

The new BetteFlat is a shower area made of glazed titanium steel, especially for bathrooms that need to provide barrier-free access, conforming to the standard, DIN 18040-2.

It can be installed flush to floor, and 50 percent of its surface can be used to provide space for access to other bathroom items, such as the basin, so it can be particularly useful in bathrooms with small floor plans. In addition, it protects the user with slip resistance to rating group B, is easy to maintain, robust and comes equipped with a sound insulation set. BetteFlat is ideally suited for use in commercial and private residential projects.

In order for the shower area to be considered as accessible according to the DIN 18040-2 standard, it must be at least 120 x 120 cm in size and be of the same floor level. In addition, stability and slip resistance to evaluation group B and a high-contrast design are required. All requirements of the barrier-free standard are met by the new BetteFlat shower area in full, tested and confirmed by DIN CERTCO.

Makes small bathrooms accessible

The BetteFlat can be installed in bathrooms in which the user’s movement areas for the shower, washbasin and WC are overlapping. With a gradient of less than two percent, half of its total area can be counted as a movement area. This allows a bathroom of high aesthetic quality to be realised, even with a compact floor plan of only four square metres.

BetteFlat shower tray

Safety for all generations

Due to the frequency and severity of falls in the bathroom, DIN 18040-2 requires slip-resistant floor coverings with slip class B (GUV-I 8527 “Floor coverings for wet-loaded barefoot areas”, rating group B) in the shower area. With its proven Anti-slip Pro surface, the BetteFlat offers standard-compliant safety for people with movement restrictions, but also for families with young children or those future-proofing their bathroom – in fact for anyone who wants to enjoy a carefree shower.

A welcome side effect of the integrated slip resistance is that aids, such as anti-slip mats or pads, which with their uneven and difficult to clean surfaces offer the ideal breeding ground for dirt and germs, become superfluous. On the hygienic and non-porous surface of the glazed titanium steel BetteFlat, dirt and bacteria find it difficult to adhere.

Colours also mean safety

The BetteFlat is available in white, in exclusive matt colours and in Pergamon, Manhattan, Bahamas, Edelweiss, Jasmine and matt black. As a result, the shower area can be used in any bathroom interior design and, as required by the Standard, the BetteFlat can form a visual contrast to the surrounding bathroom floor. For people with reduced vision, this means that they can orient themselves more safely, even in poor light conditions.

The anti-slip surface does not diminish the elegant look of the glazed titanium steel. However, the difference between the shower area and the surrounding floor, usually tiles, is also noticeable under-foot, so that two senses signal entering the shower area.

Ease of care and sound insulation included

In addition, the BetteFlat offers a high level of hygiene, ease of care and durability. The glazed titanium steel is impact-resistant, scratch-resistant, chemical-resistant and UV-resistant – Bette provides a 30-year guarantee on the material. With the BetteInstallation System Universal, the shower area is also sealed according to DIN 18534 and can be inspected at any time, because the shower area can be easily removed.

At the factory, the shower area is also equipped with a basic sound insulation set. If a higher level of sound insulation, in accordance with DIN 4109, is required, the set can be extended with further sound insulation measures.
