With geometrically-inspired design at its forefront, Ideal Standard’s Linda-X range celebrates the brand’s iconic design heritage, while also incorporating contemporary influences and technology. The end result is a timeless collection, that balances aesthetics and practicality, perfectly.

Linda-X is a reimagining of the Linda collection created in 1977 by Achille Castiglioni. This new iteration, designed by Palomba Serafini Associati (PS+A), proudly takes inspiration from the original piece, and forms part of the luxury Atelier Collections.

Architecture, design and technology are the guiding principles of Linda-X. Comprising a range of basins and an elegant, freestanding bathtub, the collection stands out for its super-light design, with fine, curved lines, designed to have a delicate, yet dramatic impact.

Allowing for the creation of the ultra-thin, lightweight ceramics, Linda-X is made with Ideal Standard’s unique Diamatec® technology, which allows for the creation of the ultra-thin edges. This mix of alumina and chamotte, not only results in a fine ceramic which is visually appealing, but also guarantees extra durability and reduces the amount of raw materials used in production.

The basins appear to have a weightless, floating element to their design owing to the stands they are positioned on. Linda-X is available in five sizes, spanning 450mm to 750mm and three colours: glossy white, silk white and silk black. Linda X Ideal Standard

Liquid was voted winner in the Bathroom sector and was described as setting a new standard for the bathroom space. The winners are chosen by the 25 Editors in Chief of the ELLE Decoration international network.

Liquid is the first bathroom range by the British designer Tom Dixon and is a complete bathroom collection that includes basins, taps, showers, accessories, tiles, and furniture.

Liquid features round-edged aesthetics and soft forms. The pieces can be used together, or single items can be selected as a focal point.

Recognising the current obsession with slim, reduced designs, VitrA and Tom Dixon have created the opposite, incorporating fatter, softer lines that are inspired by elements of pop art. While the overall design is reduced, the functionality is intuitive so that users can instinctively understand how to operate products such as taps and showers. The curved shapes make cleaning quick and easy – vital in the post pandemic world.

The Unified Water Label has been recognised as a water efficiency labelling programme within the newly published ISO 31600.

The International Organization for Standardization, (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organisation with a membership of 167 national standards bodies.

The new standard provides a set of best practices and guidance for the preparation and implementation of a water efficiency labelling programme for plumbing products and water-using appliances. A key focus is to provide the criteria for developing countries to establish an effective water efficiency labelling standard that will save water resources.

UWLA MD Yvonne Orgill says, “We are delighted that the Unified Water Label (UWL) has been included within this standard.  To be recognised as having a well-established and effective water efficiency labelling programme which empowers consumers to make choices favouring more water-efficient fixtures and appliances, without compromising on the quality of experience, human hygiene or sanitation, will help us promote the label across Europe.

“The development of this standard was approved on the basis that consumer empowerment through the communication of a product’s water efficiency is a proven way of saving both water and energy, which also drives forward our own consumer communications programme.

“We hope that the standard will encourage the development of more national standards for water efficiency labelling, which will lead to an increase in water-efficient products, enabling consumers to make informed choices, and positively influence manufacturers to improve the performance of their products through consumer demand.”

More information about the Unified Water Label can be found by visiting the website www.uwla.eu

As a complete furniture range, the 27 elements include vanity units with a hinged door, pull-out compartments, or drawers in planning-friendly widths of 410 to 1600mm. GROHE’s partnership with everwave, a social business with the mission of cleaning rivers of waste and protecting the ocean, is celebrating another milestone in the successful deployment of the cleaning structure HiveX, which was launched in the Bacchiglione river in Padua (Italy) in March 2022.

The anchored, stationary structure uses the power of the river stream to continuously divert and store floating waste – it is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly due to the passive technology using energy from its environment to operate.

“Initially, we wanted to develop a technology for the ocean. As the research progressed, it became clear that it is more effective to start with rivers, since 80% of the waste in the oceans comes from there. Thanks to the modular, low-tech set-up of HiveX, it is a very simple solution that can be implemented in many rivers and is therefore able to help clean up waterways around the globe – without high costs and specialised staff.

“We are very grateful to GROHE for supporting our mission to protect the oceans for years and for making such a positive impact on the environment as a brand,” says Clemens Feigl, CEO & Co-Founder of everwave.

Both partners are also committed to driving education and inspiring consumers to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.

“Our close exchange demonstrates that by utilising the expertise of a global brand, a social start-up can achieve a direct, tangible impact. The partnership with everwave strengthens our role as industry leaders in terms of sustainability and helps us break new ground on our contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goal 6,” says Jonas Brennwald, Leader LIXIL EMENA.

Reinforcing this statement, Feigl adds: “The support of GROHE as a leading global brand helps us gain visibility in the EMENA region and drive forward our goal of a healthy ocean. By combining our strengths and raising awareness of the global plastic crisis, the environment emerges as the ultimate winner out of the collaboration.”

At its meeting on June 28, the Supervisory Board of Duravit AG prematurely and unanimously extended the contract of CEO Stephan Tahy for five more years until 2027.

Duavit reports this is not only due to the success of the last financial year, but also because they are convinced that Stephan Tahy and his Executive Board colleagues, Thomas Stammel and Martin Winkle, have been able to build on the successes of the past and will continue to realize Duravit’s full potential in future.

In July 2020, Tahy became CEO of the family business that employs a global workforce of about 7,000 and operates in over 130 countries. His contract was due to run until 2023.

“I’m delighted about the early contract extension and the show of trust in me,” said Stephan Tahy. “Only by working together can we achieve our ambitious goals. That’s why we want to take advantage of the fair winds and shape the necessary changes together.”

Duravit on a growth trajectory and a climate mission

With Stephan Tahy at the helm as CEO, Duravit managed to generate record turnover of €604 million in the last financial year, a year-on-year increase of some 28 percent. “Despite the difficult circumstances on the global economy, we’re closing in on the billion mark,” he explained.

Duravit remains on track for success: In the first quarter the company generated total turnover of 172.1 million euros(2021: €140 million euros).

Growth, including the one-off effect of the Bernstein consolidation, stood at 22.9 percent.

Additionally, Duravit has embarked on a comprehensive climate mission: by 2045 the company from Hornberg in the Black Forest wants to be an entirely climate-neutral business at global level without relying on offsetting or trading CO2 emissions.

“None of this would be possible without the team effort of our employees who recreate this success every day afresh despite challenging and changing prevailing conditions. These are the best prerequisites for implementing our corporate vision of ‘We upgrade people’s everyday life’ for all of our stakeholders Board”, says Tahy.
