Last year, Lakes, a leading manufacturer of showering spaces, produced two free Safe Working in the Home’ guides – one for bathroom installers and one for homeowners. The two guides were produced to help installers operate safely and to allow homeowners to feel comfortable inviting installers back into their homes.

Lakes is reissuing the guides again as a result of three factors. Firstly, Public Health England’s advice to continue wearing masks in close contact settings, secondly the preference expressed by installers and engineers to continue wearing them and thirdly to try to mitigate the recent rise in the NHS Covid app ‘pinging’ close contacts leading to cancelled or postponed projects.

Endorsed by the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA), the two guides contain all the latest Government and industry advice in two concise and easy to read leaflets, available as hard copies or downloadable PDFs. With the construction sector recovering from the setbacks of the previous 18 months, it’s important to recognise the risks that are still present and act accordingly.

“A recent report from the British Institute of KBB Installation reports 47% of KBB installers surveyed had had to cancel jobs either due to customers or installers being ‘pinged’ by the NHS Covid app”, says Mick Evans, Lakes Operations Director. “With the industry just getting back on its feet and seeing business picking up, we need to remember to do all we can to minimise the risks – even if you’ve been double jabbed.”

The homeowner ‘Safe Working in the Home’ guide provides simple tips and friendly advice to reassure customers that steps are being taken to protect their health and wellbeing, and to explain how they can play their part in protecting the installation team and themselves from exposure to the virus.

Mick Evans added: “While rules are set to change on 16 August meaning close contacts no longer have to self-isolate as long as they continue to test negative with lateral flow tests, common sense and good practice dictates that following the simple rules in these guides will minimise risks to clients and installer teams.”

The ‘Safe Working in the Home’ guides are available from the Lakes website, download at www.lakesshoweringspaces.com.

The SUPERPLAN ZERO shower floor is the latest product from Kaldewei created by the Berlin designer Werner Aisslinger. Available in over 50 different dimensions, the sustainable enamelled shower surface is easily accessed from three sides.

Designed to be installed at floor level, the shower surface has very narrow edges so it is possible to tile directly up to the shower edge to create the impression of almost invisible joints. The waste is close to the wall to enable comfort when standing and safety when moving around the shower area.

There are over 50 different dimensions from 70 to 180 centimetres, diverse surface variations and a wide range of colours, all of which make the Superplan Zero even more attractive. Whether in large or small bathrooms, building owners, planners and installers have full flexibility. The shower surface is available with the almost invisible, anti-slip surface finish Secure Plus, upon request. The Superplan Zero is 100 percent compatible with all the sealing sets, assembly systems and waste fittings from Kaldewei.

The base is made from sustainable, long-lasting and 100 per cent recyclable steel enamel. The glass surface is applied to the steel using a special process and this is what gives it such a luxurious finish. Kaldewei claims to be the only steel enamel manufacturer that produces the enamel (or the basic substance for the glass coating) in-house with a secret formulation.

To launch Superplan Zero, the well-known musician and photographer Bryan Adams worked with leading choreographers and dancers and shot six different motifs. The aesthetic, powerful movements of ballet dancers are captured on a “stage” made of precious steel enamel, bringing the sensual serenity of the shower moment to the fore.

Ideal Standard is continuing its series of cinematic events, the Together World Tour, with its next scheduled stop – London, on September 23rd 2021.

The Together World Tour is a digital event series for the international architecture & design community that aims to inspire attendees by diving into the design culture of six unique cities around the world.

Following the success of the first two events in Milan and Berlin, which saw the brand launch the Ideal Standard’s Linda-X and Extra ranges from its new Atelier Collections, the London event will premiere another iconic piece in the collections. The Atelier Collections are influenced by the brand’s rich design heritage and are the result of the partnership with Italian design studio Palomba Serafini Associati (PS+A) and Roberto Palomba, Ideal Standard’s Chief Design Officer.

The latest film in the series will showcase the city’s unstoppable creativity and exactly what it is that makes London so iconic in the design community. From celebrated artist Soheila Sokhanvari, to textile and fashion designer Darren Cross, the immersive event will focus on some of London’s most celebrated personalities and its most inspirational moments across the years.

As well as the London film streaming on the Together World Tour microsite, it will also be premiered live in-person at the Design London exhibition. As part of the Design London’s programme, there will also be several unique and creative sessions with key contributors following showings of the film, in the Transparency in Shades of Colour theatre. Furthermore, all attendees of Design London can also experience the first UK showing of the Atelier Collections at Ideal Standard’s stand (E6) throughout the duration of the show.

Commenting on the event, Jan Peter Tewes, CEO of Ideal Standard International, said: “For centuries, the rich diversity of London has allowed it to lead the world in design, art, music, culture and more. Its streets are filled with wonder and intrigue; an eclectic mix of very distinct boroughs – each a mini-city with its own personality that come together to make it wonderfully unique and disruptive. It is a complex and electric city which is continually moving and changing – and it’s this variety that creates the energy that London is known for, and something we were intrigued to delve into a little deeper. So, we are inviting the international design community to join us virtually on 23rd September at 11am BST, as well as hosting a live premiere of the film at Design London, to discover how the past, present and future of that classic London design attitude have all contributed to the launch of the Tipo Z, the centerpiece in Ideal Standard’s new Atelier Collections.”

The third leg of the Together World Tour will premiere on September 23rd at 11am BST. To learn more about the tour so far and register for the London event visit: www.togetherworldtour.com
