Duravit AG has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, setting out its firm commitment to climate neutrality and long-term environmental responsibility. The latest publication provides a detailed overview of the company’s sustainability strategy, goals, and ongoing preparations for compliance with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

At the heart of Duravit’s approach are five key areas of focus: climate, water, people, resources, and governance. A double materiality assessment, carried out with the support of consultancy EY and data platform Tanso, shaped the company’s focus in these areas. The process ensures that Duravit addresses both the environmental and social impacts of its operations, as well as the risks these factors pose to the business itself.

One of the most significant developments in this year’s report is the expansion of climate-conscious manufacturing. A new production plant in Matane, Canada, scheduled to launch in 2025, will be primarily powered by hydroelectric energy. It will also introduce electric roller kilns—a first for Duravit—marking a bold step forward for sustainability in the ceramics industry.

Sustainability is firmly embedded in our corporate strategy and continually evolves through close engagement with our stakeholders.

Duravit’s sustainability roadmap also aligns with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), ensuring international comparability and transparency. As an energy-intensive manufacturer, the company has pledged to achieve full climate neutrality by 2045, minimising its reliance on carbon offsetting.

Founded in 1817 in Hornberg, Germany, Duravit is a global name in designer bathrooms, operating in over 130 countries. The brand is recognised for its collaborations with top-tier international designers, including Philippe Starck, Cecilie Manz, and Patricia Urquiola.
