This month we take a look at Duravit’s range of shower trays, showers and accessories, products can be tailored to suit individual needs helping designers create the perfect bathroom space.

Duravit’s Tempano Shower Tray
Pictured top – the Tempano shower tray blends beautifully into the ambience of any bathroom. The glossy white surface made from sanitary acrylic is as robust as it is pleasant to the touch. An optional anti-slip coating (class C) ensures additional stability. This series comes in 27 variants – rectangular or square.

Tempano is available in flush-fitting, semi-recessed, or floor-mounted variants, Tempano combines showering comfort with great aesthetics, and the flush-fitting installation creates a generous sense of space.

The stone-like Stonetto shower tray turns showering into an encounter with nature. The unique look of the shower tray is due to its matt surface – natural, original, and authentic. Made from the high-quality DuraSolid® material, the shower tray is scratch-resistant, robust, and anti-slip (class B).

The surface of the tray and the removable outlet form a visual unit, a gentle recess into which the water vanishes. Four colours and 14 possible sizes as well as a choice of flush fitting, semi-recessed, or floor-mounted installation variants open up a host of options for customized bathroom design.

Duravit’s universal tap ranges can be combined to match the shower trays: functional with the familiar soft, round forms (B.1), geometric and straightlined (B.2), or ergonomic with a striking recess in the handle (B.3.).

Duravit Shower Systems

Pre-installed shower systems with a showerhead and hand shower, and a thermostatic or single-lever shower mixer are practical all-round solutions that do not require complex concealed installation. As a result, these shower systems are also perfect for retrofitting.

Similarly, the slim line, consummate shape of the design series C.1 by Kurt Merki Jr. combines well with all bathroom ranges. Available in a round and rectangular design, each in different sizes for ceiling or wall mounting, they promise an enjoyable showering experience every time. Matching hand showers are the perfect addition and are available in a range of different variants.

Single lever shower mixers and thermostatic mixers also come in a round or rectangular design.

Matching accessories, such as the Chrome or Matt Black towel rails (pictured below) from the Starck T series by Philippe Starck combine ultimate showering comfort with holistic bathroom design.

Acquabella has launched three new products for 2021. Delivering the perfect mix of tradition, innovation and design, the new products promise a sanctuary of wellbeing.

Arabba Texture (pictured top) is Acquabella’s new textile-finish textured shower tray, with this tray Acquabella pay homage to traditional craftsmanship.

Tradition and design

Arabba is a new high definition texture that simulates the look and feel of a handcrafted fabric made with natural fibres that blend with the stone finish.

The Arabba texture perfectly embodies the bespoke irregularities we might see in a work of true craftsmanship. The tactile, non-conformist finish has a ‘textile-look’ texture that is perfectly suited to the Tempo design.

Unlike other shower trays, the Tempo Arabba encourages water to flow to the sides of the tray, gently running around its perimeter until it reaches a delicate and subtle grate that receives the flow with great elegance.

The Arabba texture complements other Acquabella products, such as panels and countertops, helping designers by delivering a complete collection that is both traditional and sophisticated.

Tomorrow’s innovation

Aquabella has also launched the Flow Zero high-flow shower tray and the Mini countertop, both designed to deliver minimalist and contemporary styling,

The Flow Zero shower tray is silhouetted by soft lines that direct the water towards an almost invisible grate under which the water slides, creating a minimalist flow that immerses users in a universe of calm and relaxation. Flow Zero lives up to its name, as its subtle grate easily collects the large amount of water flowing over its surface.

The Flow Zero shower tray was created with a countertop that represents the pinnacle of practicality. Acquabella’s new Mini bathroom countertop is compact yet features a deep, wide soft-touch basin. The exterior is coated with the Slate texture, an elegant finish that faithfully reproduces the appearance of slate, while a modern and subtle towel rail completes the design of the Mini countertop, making it the ideal addition to any bathroom.

Aquabella has been internationally recognised in a variety of design awards.

The latest Outlet Unit from Unidrain promises an efficient and cost-effective building solution. The new Outlet Unit is easy to install and reduces not only the number of materials needed but the time it takes to complete the building process, and according to Unidrain is destined to be in high demand thanks to Unidrain’s award-winning reputation for excellence.

Unidrain has expanded their range; to include a newly developed outlet unit with an extra-low installation height – just 69 mm. The solution includes a brand new water trap with a height of 50 mm. This new outlet unit is almost 20 mm lower than the manufacturer’s existing outlet units.

“We’ve developed a solution where the building height is lowered by almost 20 mm, which actually means a lot in construction. The extra-low outlet unit and water trap provide several benefits on site which combine to make installation both easier and faster. It is particularly beneficial for renovation and conversion projects as they benefit from a lower drainage installation that’s easier to build into an existing floor,” says Lasse Lyck, Technical Manager at Unidrain.

A lower solution with lots of capacity
The water trap effectively guides the water out of the shower and eliminates odour; the water capacity in the new water trap is 32 litres per minute; making the solution well above the minimum requirement of 24 litres per minute. The water trap can easily be dismantled for cleaning and if a rear facing outlet is required the trap can be rotated as needed.

“We kept the height as low as possible, so the installation also ends up being very low but without compromising on either function or effectiveness. We’ve optimised the solution in terms of size whilst at the same time retained all its benefits and lots of capacity,” says Lasse Lyck.

In addition to being VA-approved, the product meets all common Danish standards, such as BR18 (including SBi Guideline 252) and DS 432. In addition, the solution meets the important European standard EN1253 and is approved in most European countries.

Unidrain: Established in 2003 this design company has gone from inventing the linear floor drain to creating a
leading international brand, spreading Danish design ethics and Nordic minimalism to the rest of the globe.
From five star hotels in the Maldives, to the Award winning Herman K in Copenhagen Unidrain products and
accessories play a key role in the look and feel of the most stylish bathrooms on the planet.

It’s hard to believe that the great and the good of the KBB world was attending the KBB Show at the NEC just a couple of short months ago. Now, of course, the world is a different place and we’re looking forward to the time when we can meet our sector colleagues again.

The show, despite what was around the corner, proved to be a great showcase for the kitchens and bathroom sectors including Kinedo, the shower brand of Saniflo. One new product that was displayed – which is now in stock and available for delivery – was the Kinemoon shower tray. The stone effect, textured tray taps into the trend for natural stone style shower trays and doubles up as an effective anti-slip surface rated to PN24. Available in 5 colours – white, anthracite, grey, black and sable it also has 3 different patterned waste covers which are self-coloured to blend in perfectly with the tray.

The super flat tray – just 26mm in height – is designed for easy access, but can be supplied with an optional riser kit if extra height is required and can also be used in a wetroom style application. Manufactured from durable Biolex material, that is resistant to damage, the tray can be cut on site for awkward installation situations.

This flexible and versatile tray can be bought as part of a number showroom offers that are available until the end of June. So, for showrooms that are busy updating their spaces in anticipation of a rush of home improvements, this is a tray that will hit the spot for all designs of shower area.

British manufacturer, Kudos, has incorporated their five coloured profile finishes, across its broad range of Ultimate shower panels, into their new priced brochure. The colours, which are designed to co-ordinate with the most popular shower controls and brassware finishes, include Matt Black, Polished Gold, Brushed Gold, Bright Nickel and Brushed Nickel.

There has been a huge rise in the sales of coloured taps and showering controls over the past few years and there’s an obvious link between this brassware and any shower enclosure wall profile. These options from Kudos allow the designer to match or contrast finishes, adding further customisation to their room design, a trend that is forecast to grow during 2020.

A reassuring feature of these profiles is that it’s possible to replace them easily as they have the same drilling configurations, so that a different coloured profile can be installed should the colourway require changing after a few years. All coloured profiles from Kudos are manufactured within the group and quality tested to a high-performance shower standard. They are also covered with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defect.

Kudos Shower Products Ltd has been designing and manufacturing shower products at their Cumbrian facility since 1999.  Their portfolio includes shower enclosures, shower trays, over-bath screens and wet-room solutions sold via KBB showrooms and merchants across the UK.
