Joining a growing choice of other on-trend metallic finishes available across the Bathrooms to Love collection – such as matt black brushed brass and anthracite – the new Brushed Bronze option presents designers with another suite of products that can be easily coordinated for a seamless look.

With a flawless brushed finish, the new PESCARA and BERIO Bronze brassware ranges boast luxurious, golden looks with warm reddish undertones that perfectly complement crisp white ceramics.

The PESCARA BRUSHED BRONZE brassware family is a tubular, round design with a curved spout and slimline lever. Available in deck mounted, wall mounted or floor standing options, this new range includes basin mixers, bath fillers, bath/shower mixers and this stunning floor standing bath/shower mixer (pictured right).

Manufactured from solid brass with single lever cartridge technology, minimum water pressures levels vary from 1.0 to 2.0 bar, depending on model.

Meanwhile, the BERIO BRUSHED BRONZE family features a more angular design with a soft square edge and slim, flattened handles and spout. This range operates on low water pressure levels—just 0.5 bar for the deck-mounted basin taps, bath filler, and bath/shower mixer—while the floor-standing bath/shower mixer requires 1.5 bar. Solid brass construction and single-lever cartridge operation also apply to the BERIO range.

Bathrooms to Love has also launched BRUSHED BRONZE click-clack basin wastes, sprung bath wastes and bottle traps, making it easy to match up metallic finishes for a professional look.

As always, Bathrooms to Love products are supported with a package of stockist sales and service benefits from leading distributor, PJH. From POS to product swatches and QR codes to AR, the brand comes with a bundle of support, including Next Day Delivery to store or home (to 93% of postcodes). Where can brass be used in the bathroom, and what do you need to know?

Brass is one of the oldest materials used in bathrooms and can be used almost anywhere – with care and attention. If the finish is natural brass – an unlacquered finish – it will need polishing and buffing regularly if you want to keep its lustrous shine. Natural brass can be left to patina down over time. Without polishing or surface care the shiny surface will develop its own character depending upon the environment.

When buying brass products, or products described as brass, always check whether they are actual brass, or brass-plated and whether they have been lacquered or unlacquered (sometimes called live or living brass). Lacquered or plated brass finishes may cause problems over time as the lacquer or plating can be removed or damaged by cleaning. This can lead to spotting or an uneven surface and can be difficult to rectify. Natural brass, however, can always be returned to a beautifully polished finish with the use of a brass cleaner and a little elbow grease.

Do they come in different shades or different qualities? Will it be patina, etc?

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and the different levels of each material may lead to slight differences in shading. The differences are mainly down to the use of the material, whether it will be cast or bent, and the different amount of elements that can affect its use.

Perrin & Rowe is famous for its traditional English brassware, which is handcast to the highest quality.  Its Traditional and Georgian ranges represent the definitive modern versions of early 20th-century designs.  Perrin & Rowe’s new Georgian Single Lever Basin Mixer completes its Georgian collection.

Nigel Palmer, head of communications marketing for House of Rohl says, “The early part of the 20th century was the golden age of travel. Luxury liners, pan-continental train travel and extravagant motor cars took the rich to the finest hotels.  As today, the designs and ideas that impressed them were imported into the home.  Bathrooms became large, indulgent spaces for cast-iron, clawed fret baths filled with steaming hot water from gleaming chrome taps.  Bathroom brassware was on display, so it became more ornate.  Perrin & Rowe’s Georgian collection reflects this period.  Single lever basin mixers are a relatively recent innovation and wouldn’t have been part of a bathroom 100 years ago, but the simplicity and functionality of the form makes it an essential option for today”.

The new Perrin & Rowe Georgian Single Lever Basin Mixer had to reflect the design motifs of the collection but offer the smooth-working benefits of a modern mixer.  By placing the lever on top of the body, the symmetry of the tap is preserved, and the porcelain Perrin & Rowe indice is given pride of place.  The country-style spout has a generous 140mm overhang for easy installation either behind or to the side of an undermounted basin.  It can be neatly accessorised with a Georgian wall-mounted soap dispenser.

The new Perrin & Rowe Georgian Single Lever Basin Mixer is available in Chrome Nickel, Pewter, English Bronze, and 24-carat plated gold, as well as ‘living finishes’ Polished Brass and Satin Brass, which will take on a unique patina over time.  Every Perrin & Rowe tap is handcrafted in the UK in small patches to achieve the best possible quality, and each one is water-tested before final cleaning and packing. Perrin & Rowe can provide spares for almost every tap it has ever made to last for years without replacement – making it a more sustainable choice.

The Georgian Single Lever Basin Mixer was shown for the first time at Salone del Mobile and will be available from Summer 2024.

Crosswater

The three new tap collections from Duravit – Wave, Circle, and Manhattan – offer new Bronze or Polished Gold finishes at an attractive price point.

This wider range provides added value to architects and developers with sustainable features such as FreshStart, MinusFlow, and EasyClean. Duravit’s Best Match, a proprietary configurator, helps users select the best combination of tap and ceramic for each bathroom.

Functionality and sustainability
The washbasin taps are available in sizes S and M and include energy and water-saving features such as MinusFlow (flow limited to 40% = 3.5 l/min) and FreshStart. With FreshStar, cold water flows at the start and hot water is only added when the user deliberately moves the handle to the left. These systems limit the energy-intensive production of hot water.

The thermostat taps have HeatLock scald protection, and all the washbasin taps feature an EasyClean aerator, where dirt and limescale can be rubbed off the silicone nozzle with a finger. The new tap collection comes with a five-year guarantee and a 15-year availability guarantee for spare parts.

Faucet applications for the whole bathroom

The washbasin mixers are offered in three different spout heights (S, M, and Highrise) with variants such as concealed mixer, three-hole tap, and pillar tap.

Wave, Circle and Manhattan also provide solutions for any installation scenario in other bathroom areas, such as the bidet, shower and bathtub.

Users can choose between single-lever mixers, thermostat taps, and surface-mounted and flush-mounted solutions for the shower area and bathtub.

The Wave and Circle ranges feature a rim-mounted tap fitting, and the shower systems come with showerheads and height-adjustable hand showers, offering practical solutions for retrofitting.

The Duravit BlueBox® is a universal installation system for various tap designs (lever mixers or thermostats) and can be used for concealed installation. This allows the design decision to be taken even after installing the primary set.

Wave – gently dynamic

Wave (pictured above) is contemporary and youthful with a slim, cylindrical base. It is available in Chrome, Matt Black, and three additional scratch-resistant and durable PVD surfaces – Brushed Stainless Steel, Brushed Bronze, and Polished Gold.

Starck T accessories and matching accessories from the whole portfolio complement the range. Showerheads, outlet fittings, furniture handles, actuator plates, and siphons are also perfectly coordinated with the tap finishes. For the first time, Duravit can offer an entire colour-coordinated bathroom fit-out with no compromises.

Circle – simplicity all round

‘Quiet Luxury’ is a trend into a movement that brings understated elegance into a space. This trend has been gaining recognition within the interior design sphere of late.

Influenced heavily by trending interiors that favour understated craftsmanship and quality design over mass trend-led styling and overbranded buys, ‘Quiet Luxury’ requires each design decision to be conscious, considered and refined.

In a recent YouGov study, it was found that 23% of UK adults view the environment as one of the top three most important issues currently facing the country1. Since their research began in 2011, YouGov noted that those acknowledging environmental issues as important matters have steadily risen over the past decade, from having hovered between 5%-9% until 2014 to consistently staying above 20% ten years on. The societal demand and continued awareness around sustainability is a key driving trend for manufacturers to provide premium performance showers that cater to an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious lifestyle.

GROHE lifestyle & portfolio

With quality, sustainability, and human-centric design at the core of the GROHE product portfolio, GROHE says it naturally embodies the ‘Quiet Luxury’ approach to design and specification. Alongside premium quality products created with expert craftsmanship in timeless designs, the portfolio is subtly equipped with GROHE’s innovative technologies to deliver the very best in experience as well as offering sustainable benefits.

GROHE & Caesarstone Collaboration

GROHE’s latest collaboration with premium quartz surfaces brand Caesarstone, for their brand-new Private Collections, is an extension of GROHE’s beloved premium models, Atrio and Allure Brillant. The collection provides a customisable design experience with a choice of colour, finish, material, and handle options.

Integrated within a number of the fitting’s body is GROHE’s water-saving technology, EcoJoy, which reduces the water flow by up to 50%, without compromising on performance.

Sustainable design

GROHE recently announced Spring 2024 as the market launch of its first-ever water-recycling shower GROHE
Everstream.
The shower system is currently being field tested and a training programme for installers is expected to start in the second half of 2023. In addition, GROHE is also aiming to have all GROHE concealed showers water-recycling-ready by 2030. GROHE Everstream has been designed to create the showering experience users expect but consuming as little fresh water as possible – and using far less energy. The Everstream system uses as little as a quarter of the water and a third of the energy typically required by traditional showers.

British manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom fittings, Perrin & Rowe, has introduced Armstrong – its latest bathroom collection. There are 15 new pieces to choose from in a choice of six finishes, from hand-polished Chrome (electroplated to a thickness beyond industry standards) through to 24-carat plated Gold.

Combining an industrial aesthetic with a designer’s eye for balance and proportion, Armstrong offers a luxurious take on a pared-back design trend.

The Armstrong bathroom collection is one of the most comprehensive ranges Perrin & Rowe has ever launched.  Choose a single lever basin mixer or a three-hole tap, either wall-mounted or deck-mounted. An iconic freestanding bath-shower mixer is available, as is a complete Shower Set with hand-shower and overhead rose.  Accessories include robe hooks, a paper holder, a towel bar or towel ring, and a matching built-in soap dispenser.

Every piece can be specified in Chrome, Nickel or Pewter along with 24-carat Gold, Polished Brass or Satin Brass for a golden glow. Perrin & Rowe’s two brass finishes are unlacquered, so will develop a unique patina over time, enhancing the beauty of the alloy. For a true industrial look, English Bronze offers a darker metallic finish that brings out the detail of the knurling.

Each tap is made with the highest quality brass, poured by hand at 1700° Fahrenheit into moulds. After machining, specialist polishers develop the deep, lustrous finish. It’s a time-consuming and painstaking task. The freestanding bath-shower mixer, for example, can take over four hours to perfect.

The launch follows the recent success of Perrin & Rowe’s award-winning Armstrong kitchen collection, which has rapidly become one of Perrin & Rowe’s most popular ranges. Now, homeowners and designers can choose industrial-styled brassware across both the kitchen and bathroom.

Perrin & Rowe launched the Armstrong bathroom collection simultaneously at London Design Week and at the ISH 2024 industry trade event in Frankfurt, Germany, in March 2023. First customer deliveries are likely to be in the Autumn.

The Inspiration

Perrin & Rowe’s foundry in Wolverhampton is just a short walk from the site of the old Stafford Road Railway Works. From 1858, it produced over 800 steam engines for the Great Western Railway. Most were designed by two brothers, Joseph and George Armstrong. Intended as durable workhorses, their locomotives still stir the emotions today. Perrin & Rowe’s Armstrong bathroom collection has been inspired by these brothers, transforming an industrial aesthetic into a model of timeless elegance.
