Contemporary bathroom design takes centre stage in this private apartment renovation inside Parma’s historic Palazzo Carmi. Architecture and interior design studio Blank has specified a refined mix of finishes across four bathrooms and a wellness area, combining classical detailing with modern functionality.

The bathrooms feature tapware from the GIOTTO PLUS and GRADI collections in satin bronze and Black Diamond finishes, alongside the EQUILIBRIO towel warmer in stainless steel bronze. Surfaces are elevated with Crema d’Orcia marble and textured “Bamboo” stone, which provides natural contrast to the metal fixtures. In the master en suite, the warm tones of stone and metal create a cohesive look across a bespoke basin and built-in bath.

The apartment spans two levels in one of Parma’s most prestigious neoclassical buildings, initially designed by architect Paolo Gazola. Blank has balanced the historic architecture with a pared-back, modern interior tailored to the client’s brief.

A material palette of oak wood, Crema d’Orcia marble, and lime plaster from La Calce del Brenta is used throughout the home, featured in floors, cabinetry, and wall finishes. A black Marquina marble dining table anchors the main reception room, while a restored fireplace adds a heritage focal point.

The layout includes a glass-fronted kitchen with retractable doors, two bedrooms, four bathrooms, a study, and a dedicated spa area with a large walk-in shower and steam room.
