As Europe accelerates efforts to meet its climate targets, the construction sector faces pivotal changes. The Building Future Conference 2025 at ISH, the world’s leading trade fair for HVAC + Water, will provide insights and strategies to support a climate-neutral future for buildings. The event will take place from 17 to 20 March 2025 in Frankfurt.
Experts from politics, local authorities, real estate, energy, architecture, and planning will gather to address critical challenges facing the building and energy sectors. Focused discussions will explore solutions for sustainable and energy-efficient buildings, climate-neutral construction, and the role of policy frameworks in shaping the future of the industry.
Organised by Messe Frankfurt in partnership with leading industry associations, including the Federation of the German Heating Industry (BDH), Association of Air Conditioning and Ventilation in Buildings (FGK), German Association for Energy Efficiency in Building Services (VdZ), and German Sanitation, Heating and Air Conditioning Association (ZVSHK), the conference will cover four key themes:
- 17 March: Energy Policy and Heat Transition – Exploring the role of energy policy in the heat transition and upcoming revisions to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and German Building Energy Act (GEG). The day will feature high-level political discussions and industry perspectives. (Organised by BDH)
- 18 March: Municipal Heat Planning – A deep dive into how municipalities can create and implement heating plans to meet Germany’s climate targets. The day will also explore the potential for digital solutions and government funding for sustainable heat supply. (Organised by VdZ)
- 19 March: Building Modernisation and Energy Efficiency – Discussions will focus on the role of modern technologies, sustainable design, and efficient building systems in achieving climate-neutral construction. The impact of the EPBD and GEG amendments will be a key topic. (Organised by FGK)
- 20 March: Property and Housing Sector Challenges – Examining the energy-efficient modernisation of existing buildings, focusing on cost, energy efficiency, and the challenges faced by property owners, companies, and local authorities. (Organised by FGK)
