Baths V Showers? Baths are still important argues Bette...

Bette’s Head of Marketing, Sven Rensinghoff tells us how bathing still has an essential role to play in the evolution of the bathroom.

While shower areas are continuing to get larger and sleeker, baths are becoming even more important as a key luxury item. Exceptional baths are taking centre stage in the bathroom and provide the luxury – both in terms of design and experience. The faster the pace of life, the more there is a need to slow it all down, and the bathroom is the ideal place to do this. This is one of the reasons we believe that bath sales will continue to be strong over the coming years, as there is a need for rest and relaxation in the bathroom, as well as the more fast-paced washing that showering can bring.

A key trend is baths that combine strong, minimalist lines with soft organic interior shapes - giving consumers the best of both worlds; an on-trend look with comfortable interiors that are a pleasure to use. Slim-rimmed baths and washbasins are a key part of this look as they help to create a stylish, minimal look. Baths should be chosen to provide an enjoyable bathroom experience, with form following function. Comfortable, organic interiors are important and designers and retailers should also take into account their client’s height and frame – to ensure that they select the bath that is going to bring the most bathing pleasure, providing the right internal dimensitons and comfort.

The latest trend for washbasins is following that of baths – a combination of minimalist lines with an organic and soft interior, and with fillers being positioned on the counter-top or wall.
